Modern Interpretations of Marx brings together texts illustrating the critical reassessment of Marx´s social theory that has been taking place over the past few decades. During this period, and especially since 1956, there has been a notable renaissance of Marxist thought. In the course of this, major controversies have arisen concerning both the general character of Marx´s theory as a social science or a "philosophical anthropology", and the validity of particular elements or concepts in the theory. This book sets out to give the reader a concise and clear view of what progress has been made and the problems and debates yet to be resolved.
